Faculty Appreciation Award
The Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Society (PSIMES) and the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) have developed the Faculty Appreciation Award to annually recognize and honor one member of the IME faculty who has had a significant impact on the careers of alumni of the Marcus department.
The Faculty Appreciation Award Committee consists of at least one PSIMES board member. Marcus department staff and other PSIMES general mebers may participate on the committee. The committee is limited to three people to execute the process of giving the award.
In order to be eligible to receive the PSIMES Faculty Appreciation Award, nominees must be current members of the Marcus department faculty at the time of nomination.
All members of PSIMES and IME staff members are eligible to participate in the nominating process. PSIMES members may nominate faculty members for the award even if they were not students in the department during the tenure of the faculty member they wish to nominate. A nomination form must be completed and sent back to the award committee.
Award Determination and Presentation
The award winner is determined via closed ballot from nominated faculty members by the general PSIMES membership. The information provided on the nomination form will be shared with voting members to help aid them in their selection process. The nominated faculty member receiving hte majority of the votes will be selected as the winner. In the case of a tie, the PSIMES Board of Directors will determine the winner.
The Faculty Appreciation Award is announced annually at the IME Awards Banquet in the spring, which is hosted by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers student chapter.
